Introducing Axol and Java

Introducing Axol and Java

In 2018, Axol & Friends began with a simple idea: create lovable characters that help people connect with the animals—and the causes—that need our care.

Meet Axol and Java, the first friends in our growing world of plushies, stories, and adventures. Axol was inspired by the axolotl, an extraordinary salamander native to Mexico known for its feathery gills, playful appearance, and remarkable ability to regenerate. Java joined the journey as a friend and fellow adventurer, helping bring more curiosity, kindness, and imagination to every story we tell.

From the beginning, we wanted these characters to be more than cute toys. Axol & Friends was created to spotlight rare and endangered species, encourage more conscious consumer choices, and help support youth empowerment and environmental-conservation work.

Every design starts with a story: Who is this animal? Where do they live? What makes them special? And how can we inspire the next generation to care about their future?

That purpose continues to guide us today. We work toward ethical, environmentally conscious production, use recycled materials in many of our products, and direct a portion of sales toward nonprofit partners and youth programs. Our mission is rooted in the belief that small acts of care can create meaningful change—one friend, one story, and one adventure at a time.

Axol and Java were the beginning of it all. They represent the spirit of Axol & Friends: stay curious, care deeply, and remember that every one of us can help make the world a little kinder.
